DestinationFLX Launches Final Pour: FLX Beer Bracket!

Get Your Vote On April 2018!
The Finger Lakes (FLX) region is home to a growing roster of top notch breweries, and we decided to hold a contest to choose your favorites! This “bracket-style” competition will allow you, the beer fan, to decide who produced the best beer in our region this year, and retains bragging rights until we do this again in 2019!

The “Final Pour” promotes FLX breweries through an online beer bracket that will engage beer enthusiasts to select the top local craft brew of the year, divided into two categories: “New School” (breweries less than three years-old); and “OG’s” (three years and older). This annual event provides a chance to spotlight the local craftsmanship that is making the FLX a top brewing destination. And we will also collect non-perishable food for FoodLink, Inc., the contest’s nonprofit beneficiary.

More than 75 breweries call the FLX home (roughly one-third of New York’s total breweries), contributing more than $1.5 billion dollars to the economy, and supporting nearly 10,000 jobs in the region.

Final Pour breaks the FLX breweries into four brackets (Rochester, West, Central and East) and a celebrity panel will select beers for each of the New School (16) and OG (32) bracket slots. Online voting starts in early April with voters selecting their winner in each “match-up” via our bracket. Winners in each category will receive awards in celebration ceremonies at their establishments.

DestinationFLX weaves social responsibility throughout their events, so the four finalists in each bracket will have the opportunity to collect non-perishable foods that will be delivered to Food Link, Inc., upstate New York’s Feeding America affiliate. People who donate food will be eligible to win a free Finger Lakes beer tour through DestinationFLX and our van service.

2018 is an online contest only, but the 2019 online bracket will culminate at a “beer festival” in Ithaca, where guests will taste the finalists and select winners in both the New School and OG brackets.
